MEMO TO CHRISTY & CO.: Read this and weep!

As many of you know, the federal government recently shut down and sent many employees home without pay or benefits because of a Congressional impasse over the budget. When I heard about it, I was wondering if perhaps the FBI investigation, spearheaded by Agent Charlene Trux in Allentown, PA, into the criminal activities of Christy Sheidy and her associates, was being negatively impacted by the shutdown. This afternoon, with that thought in mind, I fired off a short email to Agent Trux. She responded almost immediately and simply said, "Proceeding as usual." Here's the screenshot of the email between us as proof:

Great news indeed for all of those who have had their life savings stolen and hearts cruelly ripped to shreds by this avaricious band of shady horse dealers and thieves. In the meantime, the karma bus is standing by, waiting for the signal.

 I hope I made your weekend. I for one have a Cheshire cat grin on my face which will not be wiped off anytime soon, no matter how hard her associates might try!

The Smell of Money: More Powerful than the Stench of a Dead Horse

I'll let these screenshots and video do the talking here. Take a very close look at what's circled in red, in the background of the screenshots from  one of AC4h's much vaunted "evaluation videos".  YES, that is most definitely a very dead and very bloated palomino lying in the background in plain view by what appears to be a burn pit, as well as Brian Moore's slaughter trucks.

What reputable rescue would even consider posting this video in the first place? As one of my friends so succinctly put it on my wall, "If someone like Sally Schrock was watching this rescue's every move, they sure wouldn't have a dead horse in their video, and be begging for money on top of it". Well said, my friend.

Do you see what I see back there? 

You saw that right; that horse has been there for quite a while.

  boy o boy how could you not notice a BLOATED deceased horse??? hmmm i highly doubt this horse just died and a a true equine enthusiast i would have NEVER allowed that poor soul to lie there like that. you krusty should be absolutely ashamed of yourself!

  Also I didn't see the horse until later as there was a great bit of activity and I was focusing on the horse that we were evaluating -I do apologize that the horse was in the background of the video's and it was heartbreaking to see.

  Hi Loraine your not seeing things there is a deceased horse in the background and there is also a burn pit yards behind the deceased horse. The horse was not being burned, the horse was sent to valley protein rendering plant. Apparently the horse was in foal sent to the auction which is stressful. She passed away and the unborn baby as well. Unfortunately, there were no symptoms of labor or issues. It is very sad. It isn't only slaughter that kills horses :(

  I could just be seeing things, but there seems to be a dead horse in the background of this video... Seems like it would be hard to come across as horse lovers with dead horses laying by what looks like a burn pit? Yikes...

  Take notice of Christy's response: "Also I didn't see the horse until later as there was a great bit of activity and I was focusing on the horse that we were evaluating"... how ANY reasonable human could fail to notice a large carcass in the summer heat, a bloated and decomposing body that had to be befouling the very air with its stench is beyond me!

A Tale of Two Alydar Descendants, Part One: The $25 Stallion Rescued from New Holland

All right, I'm back on my AC4h/AC$h soapbox today, this time about two different OTTBs, one that was bought directly from the notorious New Holland auction, and the other that was bailed from Brian Moore's broker lot by The Exceller Fund.

I just came across an article this weekend that resoundingly bolsters my contention (and that of many of my friends who are in the know) that the best way to rescue a horse in danger of going to slaughter is by going to the auction and bidding against the kill buyers instead of lining Christy Sheidy's pockets with your hard-earned $$$.

Tomtomjim, a ten-year-old OTTB stallion, was rescued by a lady at  New Holland last Thanksgiving for just $25. YES, you read that right! TWENTY-FIVE dollars for an off-track TB stallion, and one that turned out to be a great horse under saddle right from the get-go. This grandson of Mr. Prospector also has the great Seattle Slew as his maternal great grandsire, while Alydar is his great-great grandsire, also on the maternal side. Just think how many horses you could save with just, say, $100-250 in your pocket directly from New Holland or any other horse auction (Sugar Creek and Shipshewana, for example). That is a lot of horses that could be given a new lease on life, and more often than not, they're in far better shape than the sorry-looking animals passing through Christy Sheidy's filthy clutches.

Remember, she does NOT spend any of that money on even the most basic care for the broker horses--no vet care, no hay or feed. She claimed $27,000 in expenses for vet care on her 2010 IRS return, yet people got horses that were deathly ill, lame and severely emaciated--animals they ransomed for several hundred dollars. Many of those had to be euthanized because they were too far gone to save upon arrival.

That's mucho moolah down the drain--money that will NEVER be recovered, since it is virtually unheard of for Christy to issue refunds if something goes awry with the adoption. You've already lost the infamous $80 "vetting fee" from the get-go. The vast majority of people never get the health certificate and Coggins they paid for, so why would it be any different if you bailed a horse through Another Chance 4 Hucksterism yourself?

That $80 alone could have saved at least ONE horse directly, and maybe two, from New Holland. Think about that! More food for thought about that vetting fee: the actual cost of a health certificate and Coggins, respectively, is just $20 through NH. Soo, what is the extra $40 for, and where does it go? I would bet you the money is an "administrative fee" that goes straight into Christy's very deep pockets.

How High is the Body Count Now? Another Chance 4 Horror Strikes Again

In my next to last post, "Are There No Limits to Christy's Cruelty?" I told you all about a black mare in the broker lot that was being forced to 'perform' under rider for AC4h's much-vaunted "evaluation" video with a horrific injury to her right hind foot that was clearly causing her excruciating pain. What's more, this poor animal was heavy with foal.

Viewers watching it were told that 2-27-14-980, as she was known then, "moved sound has a motor lots of energy likes to go and will stand still but but when she does she will dance or lift up one of her front legs to show her impatience". Excuse me while I reach for the barf bag, but all of what dear Christy said is a description of a horse that is in agony and clearly not wanting to be ridden.

I posted a close up photo of that hind foot which is (pardon the pun; this is anything but funny) extremely painful to look at; it looked as though a hole had been punched into the upper part of her hoof just below the pastern and it was caked with mud, manure and debris-- a perfect breeding ground for a massive infection to take root and invade her system and endanger not only her life, but also that of her unborn foal. Christy, bless her dear heart, explained the injury away as nothing more serious than a "wire cut". Excuse me again while I make a beeline for the bathroom; she has that effect on me every single time I read such flippant remarks from her or one of her equally morally corrupt and callous associates.

I'm going to point out that for 2010, AC4h reported $27,000 in vet expenses on its 990 return to the IRS. "Vet expenses", I'm sorry to say, is a total joke. In the 3+ years that I've been warring with Christy and her compadres, I have never heard of her calling out a vet to treat any of the broker horses that needed it and she has always passed the poor animal and its issues, as well as the accompanying expenses, on to its unsuspecting new owner. It's her way of giving her generous adopters and donors the finger while laughing all the way to the bank and it, unfortunately,  has happened many, many times.

The pregnant mare, now named "Pearl" in the meantime, was bailed and sent to Lily Pond Foal Rescue in Maryland to be quarantined and treated for her injury while awaiting the birth of her foal. She did have surgery on her foot according to LPFR, but needed another one after foaling. Here's a photo of that foot at the time of her pickup to go to QT. Warning: this is a graphic injury and not for the weak or faint of heart.

She foaled a TWH cross colt in April, "Dandy" who was born healthy. Unfortunately, it was ultimately determined that her foot could not be saved. Lily Pond posted on their Facebook wall on June 26th that she had to be euthanized the day before because "The foot was worsening -- smelled of rot, she was dragging it and it had maggots in it. The vets determined her foot was not fixable."

AGAIN, it's all because of Christy's callous refusal to spend any of her ill-gotten gains to treat injuries  and illnesses that are clearly in dire need of immediate and intensive veterinary care. God only knows just how long Pearl languished in the broker lot before she was bailed and sent to LPFR. Under such circumstances, any length of time, even just one day, spent lingering in the broker lot is way too long.

This is totally unconscionable for a 501c3 organization that has the audacity to call itself a "rescue", which it most certainly is not. Reputable rescues like Brenda Lewis's ACE Rescue and Jo Deibel's Angel Acres Horse Haven have and will always go all out to get their horses in need taken care of when they need it, and in a timely fashion too. Vet and farrier care, quarantine, rehabilitation, training on the ground and under saddle--the whole nine yards and then some before the animal is ever deemed ready for adoption. 

Jo and Brenda are just a few of the truly caring horse lovers I am proud to call my friends,  who lay it all on the line and sacrifice their money (much of it out of pocket), time (they rarely ever take vacations--yet Christy takes her family on trips to Disney World and buys expensive computer equipment and cellphones for herself and the girls) and sweat and tears to make life better for their animals, who, if it were not for them, would be starving silently in a lonely dry lot or crammed into a trailer with others without food or water on a horrendous journey to one of the slaughterhouses in Canada or Mexico. Now that is real rescue for you!

In the meantime, Christy & Co. continues to brazenly carry on business as usual on Facebook and elsewhere while scores of sick, lame, injured and elderly horses languish in the broker lot without adequate care. She even has the audacity to party it up with her fellow scammer Lorraine Smith (Sundew Saves, another shady rescue cozying up with a kill buyer just as Christy cozies up with her kill buyer buddy, Brian Moore) and others. No doubt she is celebrating having netted and cleaned yet another dozen or more 'fish'!

So, just how high is the total body count when it comes to AC4h? Your guess is as good as mine, but there have been many horses that lost their lives because of Christy's cruelty and the number just continues to climb.

• Pearl, the black TWH mare
• Party Boy
• Faith the grulla mare with extremely severe laminitis
• Possibly Hero, the little gray ex-Amish gelding with a bad hind leg who disappeared completely from the broker lot following an uproar over his condition and lack of treatment
• the 30+-year-old mare represented by Christy as being much younger, that died of a stroke just days after Joe Renner hauled her out of the broker lot
• Two pregnant mares and their foals, plus a third foal whose dam survived thanks to immediate veterinary intervention, that all had been bailed by Rosemary Farms;
• The mare that had been bailed by a former AC4h supporter, only to go down in the trailer and ending up being euthanized at Days' End Rescue

These are just a handful but I know there are many more sad and unfortunate cases of horses losing their lives no thanks to the lack of care while in Christy's filthy, money-grubbing clutches. As many of you are aware, she is currently under investigation by the Feds following an April 30 raid by the FBI. Without a doubt, many more stories such as these will surface during her trial in federal court.

NEWS BULLETIN: AC4H HAS BEEN RAIDED BY THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION!

That day of reckoning has FINALLY arrived as of this morning, folks at 166 Station Road in Bernville, Pennsylvania. Earlier today, the FBI raided AC4h  and took computers and other evidence from Christy Sheidy's double wide mobile home. She was not taken into custody at this time. She put her usual spin on it, saying it was over "health certificates".  I don't buy her hooey and neither should you; why would the Feds mount a raid over just health certificates? You and I know it's all about a lot more than just that.... more than ten years' worth of fraud, chicanery, underhanded shenanigans and hundreds of broken hearts and abused, sick, neglected, old and lame horses such as Hero, Faith, Cadillac Jack, Party Boy and countless others.

Are There NO Limits to Christy's Cruelty??

Just when you think you've seen it all from Christy Sheidy and Another Chance 4 Horses with regard to the egregious cruelty that is regularly inflicted on the broker horses that have the misfortune to fall into her and Brian Moore's hands, a case comes along that trumps everything else that I've seen to date, even the photos and video of Faith the grulla mare, who was forced by Christy's daughter to walk on rock hard pavement with her coffin bones protruding through the soles.

When someone posted the link to a photo in the Facebook group AC4h/AC$h/Another Chance 4 Horses Fraud and Abuse Reporting last night, my jaw literally crashed to the floor in shock upon viewing the photo and subsequent video.

2-27-14-980, currently in the broker lot, is a black mare with a horrible, and I mean, HORRIBLE injury of some kind to her left rear foot that looks as though a huge hole had been punched through the upper part of her hoof just below the pastern, and even into the pastern itself; it's difficult to determine exactly just by looking at it. There is no way that the bone hasn't been exposed here. The injury is caked with mud, manure and debris; a perfect breeding ground for a massive, life-threatening infection to take root and invade her system to the point that she could die.

This is the kind of injury that requires immediate and intensive veterinary attention, but knowing Christy's track record for deliberately withholding even the most basic care, including adequate food and water, I doubt very much that this poor animal is going to see a vet any time soon while languishing in the broker lot -- and if she by some miracle is bailed, it may be too late to save her.

The injury in itself is horrific and stomach-turning to look at, but seeing this poor mare being forced to trot and even canter briefly on a hard-packed road absolutely made me cringe, but the following comment that AC4h made to describe her under saddle (she's actually being ridden bareback in the video) made me see red:

I am not by any means going to mince words here. That comment is TOTAL bullshit! A wire cut? Proud flesh? "Moved sound"? "Lots of energy likes to go and will stand still but when she does she will dance or lift up one of her front legs to show her impatience"? 

If you view the video, you would be extremely hard-pressed to agree with the above comments. Her actions are those of a horse that is in excruciating pain. If she is in fact pregnant, having a rider on her is just adding to the agony that she's being forced to endure, just to satisfy Christy Sheidy's insatiable greed for the almighty dollar. Let me remind you about AC4h's mission statement:

Our Mission is to give equines a much needed "Another Chance".  We do all aspects of rescue - abuse, neglect, owner surrender, cruelty, auction purchase and slaughter for human consumption then quarantine, rehabilitate, evaluate, train and place horses in loving homes.  We are also very active in education and community involvement. 

Note where she states 'abuse, neglect, owner surrender, cruelty, auction purchase and slaughter for human consumption'. Abuse. Neglect. Cruelty. All of that going on with this one horse in direct violation of their own mission statement. No legitimate and  self-respecting rescue, like Angel Acres Horse Haven or Days End Horse Rescue or any one of a dozen I could spin off the top of my head, would ever subject an animal to this abominable treatment. HELL NO! They'd whisk that poor mare into their barn with a veterinarian on the premises and get her treated immediately. Thoughts of adopting her out would not enter their minds for several months at the very minimum (that is, if she's not beyond help) and likely only after her foal (again, if she is pregnant) was weaned off of her.

What I find nauseating too, is AC4h's habit of superimposing a series of cutesy hearts within circular text touting their website over their photos and it's all the more so with the close up photo of her mangled hoof. What the hell are they trying to do, sugarcoat her sorry condition or put a positive spin on it? In my opinion, posting that photo in the first place is going to backfire on them BIG TIME; it's going to draw angry criticism, controversy and a whole lot of negativity and further tarnish an already tarnished image.

In their twisted logic, they're counting on sympathetic and unsuspecting donors to give in to the frantic tugs on their heartstrings and flick their hard-earned cash into AC4h's PayPal account with a keystroke or two. Unfortunately, that is exactly what will happen, and Christy's bottom line will be even more bloated than it was last week-- and that pitiful mare may pay for Christy's greed with her life, along with that of her foal. That bitch could care less as long as she gets her filthy lucre.

What really needs to happen in this case is for everyone, and I mean everyone, to deluge the humane welfare authorities in the area with calls urging them to pay a visit to Brian Moore's broker lot and investigate the treatment of this mare-- and slap both Christy and Brian with citations for neglect, abuse and withholding of veterinary care. Period. Pennsylvania state law expressly forbids cruelty to animals and this is what is stated in the statutes with regard to the treatment of horses:

(d) Selling or using disabled horse.--A person commits a summary offense if he offers for sale or sells any horse, which by reason of debility, disease or lameness, or for other cause, could not be worked or used without violating the laws against cruelty to animals, or leads, rides, drives or transports any such horse for any purpose, except that of conveying the horse to the nearest available appropriate facility for its humane keeping or destruction or for medical or surgical treatment.

That's right, folks! Christy Sheidy and Brian Moore are both clearly in violation of those very statutes. I pray to God that they get the punishment they deserve and a helluva lot more on both the federal and state levels.

With that, I bid you good night, and I apologize for my French, but that's just how angry I am right now, can you tell? You should be livid too, and I won't blame you if you spout a few choice words upon reading this latest blog entry......
